Boulos, its Chief Executive Officer, has been elected to serve on the Nominating Committee of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). His term began July 1, 2019. He also serves on the NAE Audit Committee and chairs the Advisory Board of the NAE Center for Engineering Ethics and Society. The NAE Nominating Committee has the task of presenting a slate of one or more names for the office of Chair, Home Secretary and six names for the four Councillor positions.

The NAE is part of The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. It operates under the same congressional act of incorporation that established the National Academy of Sciences, signed in 1863 by President Lincoln. Under this charter the NAE is directed “whenever called upon by any department or agency of the government, to investigate, examine, experiment, and report upon any subject of science or art.” The NAE has more than 2,000 peer-elected members and foreign members, senior professionals in business, academia, and government who are among the world’s most accomplished engineers. It provides advice to the federal government, when requested, on matters of engineering and technology.
